My spear clashed against Scathach's five times before she once again got the better of me (by stepping on my foot) and managed to push me down. She planted her spear in the ground and looked smug. She was the type who liked to show off. She offered me a hand, but I scowled and pushed myself to my feet on my own, wiping the sweat from my forehead.
We were safely tucked away in our territory, behind our towering walls and shut off from enemies. We were practicing alone in an open area outside of our base; which was a big, black, cylindrical shape, and quite decrepit. It was gray out as it always was from constant rain, and it smelled like a mixture of blood and filth like it always did.
"You cheated," I said sourly.
"I would have won anyway, Setanta." She said plainly.

For this contest you'll be picking a myth and incorporating the characters into a new genre.
Examples: Sci-fi Zeus, Cowboy Arthur, Romance Odin, etc.
Read on for more details!
- Pick one of your favorite mythological stories/characters and put them into a new genre! Simple as all that!
- The myth you pick for your picture must be an actual myth or at least really old (100 years+) literature.
- Don't make up a myth!
- Ideas for genres (not all-inclusive. Just some suggestions to get you started)
----- Action
----- Comedy
----- Horror
----- Gangster
----- Mystery
----- Romance
----- Satire
----- Sci-Fi
----- Sword and Sandle
----- Western
----- Urban
----- Others? We aren't going to be super picky about your genre. You can even pick something super narrow-casted like "Video Game", "Children's Book", "Cartoon Show" etc. Just have fun with it!
- Obviously once you pick a myth it'd be best to choose a genre that's completely different or at least humorous. So something like Cupid and Psyche with Romance would be a dumb choice. But Cupid and Psyche in a sci-fi or as a rom-com would be different or funny enough to stand out.
- You can change the character's forms if you want to match your newly chosen genre more. Changing their genders, clothing, species, roles, etc. (Examples: Odin as an alien in a sci-fi, Hera as a fairy in a fantasy)
- You can even make a fake movie poster or book cover if you so want to.
- There aren't many rules for this one... just have fun with it is the main point! And show your creativity! If you have any questions about what you can/can't do, just leave a comment. But seriously, the sky's the limit.
- No fanart. All designs must be your own. Incorporating classical features of legendary characters into your art is fine, though.
- Do not submit an old work of art. It must be new and created after this contest was put up [May 30th, 2015]
- Do not copy/trace the work of somebody else. Your art must be completely your own.
- You can be as serious or comical as you want.
- Any medium is acceptable. Ex: Sculpture, Digital, traditional, costume... anything!
- Yes, that means writing/literature is allowed.
- ***When you submit your entry to deviantART, PLEASE mention that it's for the contest in this group somewhere in your description. Not because we need more promotion, but because there are a ton of people who submit to the wrong folder and don't even mean to try to enter the contest.
If you don't mention that your illustration is for this contest in the description, it will be removed from the folder.***
- You may have up to two entries this time. But that's the limit.
- Keep it clean. No porn, no really gross stuff. Keep it tasteful. If you have any questions about taste level, send us a note or leave a comment.
- You may enter the contest even if you're not a member. Just be sure to give us a link so we can add it.
- When you're done, post a comment with a link to your entry here, and I'll add it to the list.
- Also! I've created a folder for our new contest in the gallery called, "Contest 17 - Myths in another genre". Be sure to submit there.
-When the contest is over, we'll put up a blog with all the entries on it, and the members will vote on which one they think is best.
- If you have any additional questions, either comment here, note the club, or note the owner, (DrZime)
Three winners will be chosen by popular vote. If we get up to 21 entries and we have enough prize donations, we'll increase the winners to six with a panel of judges who'll choose the additional three.
If you're interested in doing a prize request for one or more of the winners, just note or comment here!
If you're willing to donate a subscription to one of the winners, just let us know! ^0^

The Quest for a Miracle Reveal TrailerThe world of Amothan is in chaos as the demons of the underworld pour forth, bringing terror and despair on the land in their wake.
But it has been foretold that in Amothan's darkest hour, the goddess of music, Lyris, would descend upon the world, and journey westward to retrieve the eight Orbs of Hymnos, which contain the pieces of the song she sang at the dawn of time to create the world itself.
Alongside the rogue ninja Yorikane, Dasan, a man blessed with god-like strength that would rather spend his time on wine, women and song than go on any sort of quest, and Jala, a priestess of the water goddess gifted in archery.
But the way to gather the orbs of Hymnos and the white Valley will not be easy--numerous demons and monsters yearn to have Lyris for themselves--for it is said one that tastes a deity's flesh will live forever
Can Lyris and her motley crew reach the White Valley before the song of Amothan is silenced forever?

Question about our next contest!
The votes for our next contest are in, and Myths of the Sea won.
BUT. I have a question.
We recently already had a contest dedicated solely to mermaids.
This being said, would y'all still want to enter if I banned Mermaids from the contest? Otherwise I can already envision half the entries being mermaids again. :/
Let me know- please comment. :)
